Colleen De Reuck

Colleen De Reuck is a world-class runner, having competed in four Olympic games, holding former world records, and earning the title of 2009 Master’s Athlete of the Year by USA Track & Field.

Born in South Africa during Apartheid, Colleen was unable to compete outside of the country for the first ten years of her career. She became a national champion within the country, and in 1992, she competed in her first Olympic Games, finishing ninth in the marathon (2:39:03). In 1996, she competed in the 10,000m finals at the Atlanta Olympic Games where she finished 13th (32:14.69). In the 2000 Summer Olympics, Colleen finished 31st in the women’s marathon (2:36:58). In 2004, she won the Olympic Trials marathon to earn a place on her fourth Olympic team.

Colleen and her husband, Darren, moved to Boulder in the early 1990s, and she became an American citizen on December 11, 2000. Colleen made her first appearance for Team USA at the 2002 World Cross Country Championships in Dublin, Ireland, where she finished third overall (27:17) and helped Team USA to a silver medal overall.

Besides running competitively, Colleen spends time in Boulder with Darren and their two daughters, Tasmin, 16, and Tara, three-years old. She also works as a personal trainer, a valuable component of Boulder Coaching.

As a personal trainer, Colleen brings a wealth of experience to her clients. Her knowledge as a trained professional and her experience as a pro-athlete enables her to understand training from a client’s perspective. She focuses on functional strength training to help her clients reach their goals and become better athletes.

Colleen is a certified personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise.
